Saving Your Work from Blackboard – Students

This guide specifically addresses how students can save their classwork on a local or cloud drive. Students are not required to download their work, but they have the option if they would like to have it for the future.

Blackboard at JHU be fully shut down on 12/1/22. There will be no access to Blackboard grades, course content, or student work after this time. Starting 12/1/22, the Blackboard login page will be no longer accessible.

NOTE:

  • There is no way to bulk download all your assignments for one course.  
  • The instructor has made it unavailable if you no longer see a course on your Blackboard dashboard.  Contact the instructor to request permission to access the course.  
  • Courses taken three or more years prior may no longer be available. Please reach out to AAPCourseManagement@jhu.edu for assistance if your course is not available.

Voice Thread Assignments

Courses that you have taken that used VoiceThread will continue to be in the course folder. You can access all your VoiceThreads on the JHU VoiceThread Site. To export and download your VoiceThreads, see the instructions below: 

Part 1: Export from an Open VoiceThread

  1. Open the VoiceThread you wish to export. 
  1. Click on the menu in the top-left corner of the page. 
  1. Select “Export” from the menu. 
  1. Click on the “Export” button to initiate your export.

Part 2: Downloading an Exported VoiceThread

  1. Click on the button labeled “Open account and settings menu” at the top-right corner of the page. Visually this looks like an icon of a person. 
  1. Select “My Account” from the menu. 
  1. Click on the “Exports” tab. 
  1. Find the export you want to download and click on the “Download” button. 
  1. Save your VoiceThread to your computer. 

Exports with a status of “Waiting” or “In progress” are still processing. Those ready to be downloaded will display a button you can click to download the completed file. 

Note: You must download an export within 90 days of initiating it. If you wait longer than this, you’ll need to re-export the VoiceThread. 

Downloading Instructor-Provided Content

If an instructor has enabled the course content to be downloaded, you will click on the file, which should automatically download. If the file does not automatically download, right-click and Save As. 

Saving Student Submissions from Blackboard

Saving Assignments (files you have submitted)

  1. Navigate to MyGrades. 
  2. Under the ‘Item’ column, click the title of the assignment.  
  3. You will see your original submission in this dashboard, which you can download.    
  4. If the instructor provided feedback directly on your paper, you can download (1) the annotated version of the document in a pdf format to your local drive.  
  5. If the instructor has provided feedback in the ‘feedback box’ (2), you can save it as an artifact.    

Saving Tests & Quizzes

  1. Navigate to MyGrades.  
  1. Under the ‘Item’ column, click the title of the quiz or test.  
  1. In this dashboard, you will see the ‘calculated grade’ column.  Click on the score in this column.  
  1. Depending on your instructor’s settings, you may be able to see the entire test, which shows your incorrect or correct answers, or you may only be able to see a score. If you can see the entire test, you can print the test to a pdf document and save it on your local drive. 

Saving Discussion Forum Responses

  1. Navigate to MyGrades. 
  1. Under the ‘Item’ column, click the Discussion. 
  1. All your discussion threads for that Discussion will appear on this page, along with any feedback from the instructor. 
  1. You can screenshot this page or highlight all content, then copy/paste it into a Word document.
